Transition Youth Employment Services Society

T.Y.E.S. TRANSITION YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES SOCIETY is an employment service for individuals with disABILITIES who are in transition to work.  Our non-profit organization is funded by Employment and Labour Market Services through the Canada-British Columbia labour Market Agreement to assist clients to enter the world of work and achieve increased independence

T.Y.E.S. supports people in transition as they gain the experience they will require to enable them to obtain and maintain employment in the community they reside in. T.Y.E.S. is a cross disability service aimed at helping persons with disABILITIES access the skills required for work readiness. For example, some of the topics covered include: resume writing, interviewing, understanding the meaning and value of work, effective communication, and personal presentation.

Through federal funding, we have the opportunity to assist prospective employers apply for wage subsidies for the purpose of gaining employment for our clients. Once a wage subsidy has been secured for an individual, T.Y.E.S. continues to support this person by supplying a trained staff member to serve as a job coach for the new employee. When the employer, employee, and job coach all agree that the new employee has reached a point where he/she can effectively do the job independently, this continuous support will be withdrawn. Regular monitoring will occur for the purpose of ensuring that everyone is satisfied and comfortable with the employment placement

Finding employment is difficult for most people, but for persons with disABILITIES, it can be even harder, as often society makes note of the disability rather than the capable person beneath. Through our service, we are endeavoring to offer employers and the community the opportunity to work cooperatively with us as they experience the benefits of hiring and individual with a disABILITY.

Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction and for showing an interest in our employment service. If you have any questions, or if you would like more information, please feel free to give us a call anytime. We hope to hear from you in the near future.
